Birthday Gifts Without Packages. [Jan. 18th, 2005|04:11 pm]
Sauce1977

I started my new job yesterday.

I have a habit of no sleep or little of it before a big new task. This happens before job interviews, 1st days of work, and many other events.

My exhaustion dominated me during the first day. The difficulty of paying attention adds up to a large sum in the late hours of work. I survived without problems, and I'm thankful for that.

Today is my birthday.

The best gift presented themselves last night and today. I found out that I had been scheduled an off day for today. That wasn't intended as a birthday gift, but that's pretty nice to enjoy. The manager wanted to schedule the same hours for her trainees as she would work, so she had scheduled her off-day for today, and the other newbies also received this as well. She also went easy on the 1st-day folks, which was nice because great fervor and hell-fire wouldn't have been very enjoyable or easy to emulate. She made the day wonderful, and that's pretty decent in my book.

Today, I called into work to find out my start time for Wednesday. The shipment arrives for the store tomorrow, and I found out that I didn't have to arrive until later in the morning. This is a nice surprise because I was prepared to be at work around 6 AM. At this point, I can sleep in a little longer than expected.

Tonight, my Heidi will head over from work, and my mother and I will have a quiet birthday feast. This will be more fun than any packaged gift or the equivalent. I am thankful to have the proper support around me, as I know that no individual can succeed without the help of a group.

Thank you!

It's the authority that I desired. We'll see how the job fits with my life path.

Thank you!

It's a job in retail. These are the jobs which I can take or leave . . . the authority that I'll learn will help me to take this one.

Happy Birthday!

Be glad I actually spelled "birthday" instead of "bday" LOL. Today is my friend Shaun's birthday too. Ironic how miles and miles away from you someone who shares your birthday is having a horrible day. I guess it serves as a reminder of the great friends and family we possess. I haven't spent my birthday with my family for the past two years, I'll make an effort to do it this year.

Glad to hear it's going good and that your new job is good. I also applied for a new job and am hoping for a call back next week. Hope I'm as lucky as you! :)

Re: Happy Birthday!

I hope you are as lucky as well!

Thank you. Tell Shaun that whatever's hitting the fan won't be nearly as horrible in the long run as it currently seems.

Thanks. Things are slowly getting better.

How are you dealing with the massive rain from the past week?

I'm dealing with it by not being there!

I moved from LA right before Xmas. I had to do it . . . the lease was up, and the bills were choking my financial neck.

I laugh and point at my friends back in LA, and I call them and they tell me at 10 PM my time that it's 83 degrees where they are, and I cuss at them because it's about 15 degrees in Detroit. That's the run routine we've developed.

I really do miss LA. The next opportunity, especially with paid job . . . I am really back there. Sooooo back there.

I've always been jealous of LA's weather until the mass flooding occurred.

I hear you about the cussing, Chicago has been a brutal -10 and is slowly climbing back up to 30.

PARTAAAAYYY!

Thanks!

I am horrible at keeping track of birthdays. I require that no one keep track of my own day. In fact, it really stopped becoming an exciting event when I was legally able to drink alcohol for my 21st birthday. In the United States, we actually need to raise the age level because kids are just so fucking stupid. That's AMERICA!

Here's to world domination!

Joking aside, many best wishes to you!

Yes, the security of a paid gig is pretty different and fortunate. I shiver in anticipation of paying a bill with self-earned $$$, once again . . .

Thanks!

Where would we be without love?

Much happiness to you on your birthday, and for every day thereafter. Hope your birthday feast was tasty and that you have fun with your Heidi.

Best of luck with the job - an auspicious beginning, I would say. Managers who make wonderful days for their employees are rare, in my experience.

Sounds like you're not doing too badly. We have high hopes for 2005. =)

I'd think of something witty, but the mind works slow at 4:45 AM after a 12 hour day. Here's to The Machinist!

I could use the smokes, big time.

They're 43 dollars a carton here in MI.
