i've never really been to detroit, but word on the street is...

that and windsor is a damn depressing town. my memories of looking across to detroit always seem to include some huge black cloud lurking over the city.

The mayors, the main industry, the jobs, the urban decay, and the lack of finance to clean up decay are the prime reason why this city has been a giant depression since 1968, when race and Vietnam and one thing after another nationally helped with the local to produce a permanent schizm between Detroit and the rest of the world.

It is a land-locked island fortress, and the jail's inmates are the residents.
