Although this particular video bears some resemblance to Sin City in style, Felix Da Housecat's video reminds me of one other from a long time ago in a video galaxy far far away.

Felix Da Housecat - Madame Hollywood

Felix Da Housecat - Madame Hollywood

Everybody wants to be hollywood
The fame, the vanity, the glitz, the stories
One day I’ll become a great big star
You know like the big dipper
And maybe one day you can visit my condo
On the big hill you know like 9-0-2-1-0

Just imagine my face in the magazine
People analyzing my look, my body or
Any plastic surgery.

You know like the big dipper
And maybe one day you can shake
My hand on the planet Hollywood

You say I’m not underground
I’m rich, I’m famous, I vanish, I’m glitz
I am the story, I am the star
You know like the big dipper

Sex, Drugs & Rock n’ Roll
It’s Over
It’s OVER
I decide it’s over

Everybody wants to be hollywood
And maybe one day you can visit my condo
On the big hill you know like 9-0-2-1-0
Oh Yeah

I kept wondering where I first listened to this particular song, and then it hit me . . . it was in DJ Testosterone's "Long Weekend" mix, 37:35 into it. I think that is the Tiga's Mr. Hollywood Mix of the Housecat track. Of the two, I prefer the Tiga mix. Both are great.

Oh yeah, about that other video. It's A Ha's "Take On Me" video. This video was from a Norwegian band that struck world-wide fame with this song and video in 1985. I remember absolutely waiting for certain videos like these to play on the MTV video blocks.

A Ha - Take On Me

A Ha - Take On Me

We're talking away
I don't know what
I'm to say I'll say it anyway
Today's another day to find you
Shying away
I'll be coming for your love, OK?

Take on me, take me on
I'll be gone
In a day or two

So needless to say
I'm odds and ends
From the video
But that's me stumbling away
Slowly learning that life is OK.
Say after me
It's no better to be safe than sorry

Take on me, take me on
I'll be gone
In a day or two

Oh the things that you say
Is it live or
Just to play my worries away
You're all the things I've got to remember
You're shying away
I'll be coming for you anyway

Take on me, take me on
I'll be gone
In a day or two

Obviously, these are two different moods, lyrics, and songs, but the part I connect is the striking quality of the videos.

On the link page in YouTube, that website's userid "popaegg" writes about the A Ha video:

"its so cool how they were able to do that during the 80's"

LOL. That would almost be like writing "Wow, it's so cool how Mozart was able to put together music in the 18th century." Like A Ha were a bunch of early homo sapiens, and the video was a series of cave drawings. 1980s . . . like thousands of years ago, hahaha.

In other musical observations, Richie Hawtin, with a little work on the hair, could look similar to Mike Score from A Flock of Seagulls.

Same here. :D

mizcrank wrote at some recent point about how nobody gets amped up for video releases, not like it once was.

Felix's song is not exactly new, but the video's great, to me. In the 1980s, I can see it getting a lot more press.

Electronic music doesn't really do well in the USA. I don't blame Hawtin for leaving North America for Europe and Germany. They appreciate him more, I feel.

I like his own singing much better. Miss Kittin really irritates me sometimes..

Forgive my green-ness, but that really was Kittin's voice in the regular track (on the video), and that was Felix's voice on the version included in your mix?

In my mix, it's Felix's voice. Kittin's voice is in the viddy you posted- it's a cut from her album. SHe kinda drones on in everything, but this is a much better example of what she's good at:

lol "Everynight with my star friends - we eat caviar and drink champagne - sniffing in the VIP area - we talk about Frank Sinatra - you know Frank Sinatra? - he's dead!"

Yes, that is a droning voice, oh my word!

Man that was a grating video.

And Felix's voice is much much preferred, from your mix. :D

That "Long Weekend" mix really ends well with the Jem show lyrics.

"Jeeem is truly outrageous, truly truly truly outrageous . . . " :D
