Pistons Playoffs About to Begin. [Apr. 12th, 2007|08:00 pm]

Yesterday, Detroit locked up the first seed in the Eastern conference with a close shave win against Orlando.

Orlando's fixing to be Detroit's first round opponent. I have to give Orlando minor credit . . . Detroit played perfect basketball in the first quarter, and Orlando did not sit down. So is the case with all the teams against Detroit these days.

There was one moment, in particular, where Rasheed Wallace slapped an oncoming Orlando ball-carrier, and the ball went sailing out of bounds. Rasheed at that point had 2 early fouls. The refs called it out of bounds on Detroit, but they failed to call what was clearly a third early foul on Rasheed. I'll let Orlando fans stew on that one.

However, I ask Rasheed Wallace . . . will you be our Bill Laimbeer?

Detroit could use some combat basketball during this post-season.

This year, Chicago could make it pretty similar to the old days.

"It was the game that I was looking forward to playing." - Joe Dumars, on playing the Bulls and Mike Jordan.

Pistons won 50 games for the sixth consecutive season. I believe San Antonio and Dallas are also in that category.

These three cities have been livin' pretty for basketball, that's for sure.

Detroit and San Antonio, one day, could possibly plummet in quality, and the process of a new era will begin. That's not today, so whatevs.

I would rather you didn't like the Pistons. I would rather you hated the Pistons. Nothing makes a Pistons punch to the world's mouth better than that.

If your NBA team was awesome, they'd do intros like this and fail to be laughed off the court.

I'll leave Detroit Pistons fans with this . . .

Red Army looked very impressive tonight. Finally, Datysuk got a goal.

Oh yeah, NHL.

I'll take that seriously when they stop the beefcake marketing to women.

You don't see the WNBA drafting and promoting a bunch of cheerleader-framed women with tig 'ol bitties to guys.

But seriously, good luck to the Wings.

If they win, that's great, and if they don't, hopefully whatever team that does win it . . . they'll be worthy of the Cup.

It's nice to see those jag-offs in Colorado miss out on action, but I'd rather have had Toronto and Montreal up in this year's dance than, say, Atlanta and the Islanders.

Sweet video at the end, thanks for sharing. Got me really pumped up about the playoffs.

The Old School vid was cool as well.

So, you think the Pistons can do it again?

Eastern's not as smoking hot as the tops of the Western, but such was the case in 2004.

Detroit can't get unglued early in the playoffs. They also need to watch their consistency on offense. This engine needs tweaks here and there, but it's not like it's cracked a block or anything.

Hmmmm, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Bulls win the east, and knock off the Pistons...go suns

I wouldn't, either.

I'm still wondering if the Pistons can carry any tune enough to run for 16 wins.

I'm a little concerned that Orlando or whoever might take the series to 6, or more.

Phoenix has more than enough on their plate. 1st round Lakers scare last year, down year in general . . . both Detroit and Phoenix are not serving their fans well if those teams fall short of a conference finals.

But enough about expectations. Eastern is far from decided for a Finals rep, and the same is the case in the Western. As long as the two teams who get there earned it . . . it's all good.
