Ah, Serenity Now, Serenity Now . . . [Dec. 23rd, 2003|03:00 am]

[In the Moment |pleasedpleased]
[Special Music |Black Sabbath - Paranoid]

An evening of anxiety, followed by frenzied packing of books into boxes.

Finally, a late evening trip over to my friend Brad's brother Brian's place for some Counterstrike on Xbox.

Vodka and tonic in hand, the AI slaughtered me like a champ. It's been years since I've really played multi-player first-person shooters on a regular basis. I used to be pretty decent on CStrike on the U of M servers, but this was ridiculous. :D

One thing I noticed about the Xbox version . . . the grenades are useless. When one tosses a grenade near a soldier, the soldier does not die from the blast. They tweaked the game a bit from the old PC version.

The AI players for the LAN are pretty good. They camp, they defend the bomb, and they come after you in packs, which is pretty good strategy programming.

That vodka and tonic did the trick. I can go through some more boxes tonight.

I drink enough coffee as-is. Thus, the speed would probably send me to overdose.

:D

You and pistol opera are doing so many quizillas . . . I couldn't resist this one.

Elizabeth
Queen Elizabeth I:
You represent the best interests of your nation as
a whole. Individual lives sometimes are
expendable...even your own, maybe. In fact,
you're probably quite selfless to the point
where it hurts those who are close to you.
Worry not, though, your people love you, you
are a key to a gate of a golden age. Alas, your
personal life is rather pathetic, though.

Nor this:

Honor: You are an honorable person who is firm with
his/her beliefs and treats others as you are
treated. People would consider you humble at
times and very respectful, and someone to
definitely respect back.

While sorting through kitsch, taking kitsch Quizzes.

asas
You're not really an idiot. You just scroll down
lists of quizzes and find out which one of them
appeal to you. You'll click on the ones with
titles that stand out. You'll take the
interesting ones to see if they would say true
things about you. Well, then there's a
question...does this describe you quite well?

And participation in discussions.

http://www.livejournal.com/community/found_objects/970021.html

It'll probably be deleted, but who knows.

Basically, this found_objectscommunity got pissy with regards to its members over the last few weeks, and I noticed this and decided to share what I saw.

It's basically precipitated by a lady who posted an 'internet-found' web article in this 'tangible-found' community, was given some comments of 'read the rules,' and had her piece deleted.

She was riled by the comments. Humanity ensues.

I barely know of supertreerat, but I could feel her ire with regards to people not understanding. I know maryjane2723up and left over the jerky attitude of the community a while in the past.

I just posted with frustration in nflfans, and one person started with a comment I made in a completely different post. It seemed as if they thought I was a true jackass.

Of course, I reacted poorly with fire. It happens.

I don't like being like that though, being truthfully pissy and moany and 'shit-on-YOU!'

Man, it's the holidays. I'm telling you, a quality vodka with tonic is the perfect solution to this mass consumerism in the face of a holiday about the birth of a child who was a carpenter who ended up bein' Jesus.

i have to agree, Cstrike for the Xbox was pretty weak.

But then I'm a Halo baby myself. :) Hopefully Halflife2 will come out on Xbox and NOT suck like this. :)

glad the packing went okay! :D

Oh, Halo is all that, and the sack of fries, and the sudden ambush of aliens that you didn't expect would find you if you ran around the corner, through 2 different rooms, and hid inside a hole in the wall.

I'm practically salivating at the upcoming release of Halo2. After all the delays, this game better damn well be good!

The packing is packin' . . . Part of the problem is that my filing system consists of 'put in box, forget, find three years later.'
