ADULT. is always spelled with a period at the end, even in the middle of a sentence. For example: I think the band ADULT. suck.

A friend of mine burned me one of their albums. Like the true sloth that I am, I've only listened to it once and I can't remember if I liked it or not.

I'll give it another listen.

I became hooked on them at a listen in the CD player of a friend's house party near Tiger Stadium.

The tunes are pretty tight in regard to construction of beats, notes, and lyrics.

I get that way too, very sloth-like. I just wrote to an English professor I had over 5 years ago, and I wanted to do so for oh, 5 years now . . .

Re:

In particular, this album is a great favorite of mine:

Adult. - Resuscitation
http://www.discogs.com/release/12615

Also, I like their latest album, though it's not 'flat' as described by someone else here:

Adult. - Anxiety Always
http://www.discogs.com/release/12615

What Anxiety Always is . . . a different collection of songs from their radio-friendly singles collection, Resuscitation.

A couple of their tracks on Anxiety Always remind me of Kraftwerk's Radio-Activity album, in particular, the geiger-counter-like pulsing motif in the openings of some of their songs.

What Anxiety Always seems like, to me, is a gift of a couple of really great songs, "Blank Eyed, Nose Bleed" and "Glue Your Eyelids Together," along with a few good others, as well as a more rolling, exploring, demonstrating version of where they're going in terms of what I'm guessing their next progression will eventually be.

I hope they continue to make music. There is something behind all of the music, as demonstrated in progress at their web page.

Thrice-posted response for emphasis purposes.

Not that I'm saying that in order to fully appreciate their work, you have to see them live . . .

Quite the contrary. Their albums play well, and the album versions of the songs and the re-edits and everything else recorded is just as good as the live versions.

However, not quite as good. Sadly, my cheap camera couldn't handle the smoky upstairs hall they played. However, you won't find as many professional, well-oiled, actually wonderful and amazing Electroclash-tagged groups as you will find in Adult.

It's just wonderful to see Miller and Kuperus up close, live, on-stage, breathing the smoke and the sweat and the strange siren-crooning of Kuperus and Miller's vocoded strength plus bass-guitar emphasis.

The albums are pretty good in comparison to what's out there, mass-produced, and minor-label. At least, I like 'em.

Kuperus and Miller Rock It Like The Proverbial Hurricane.

I enjoy the photography of Kuperus, soooo much.

For some reason, it makes magical sense.

I'd love to get a large print of the photo from the Resuscitation album.

Re: Kuperus and Miller Rock It Like The Proverbial Hurricane.

This is the picture in particular.

I'm fond of Kuperus's work in general, but this is the one from Resuscitation.

From the Adult. collection.

Ah yes, I remember it now.

Not quite certain what the picture is trying to convey, though.

Re: Kuperus and Miller Rock It Like The Proverbial Hurricane.

If I'm not mistaken, that looks very much like the terrain of Detroit City Airport.

That was the original Detroit airport downtown, but as plane flight became more common, they decided to build a bigger airport to the South and West of the city, and that one is Detroit Metro Airport.

Detroit City Airport is right next door, to the South of Mount Olivet cemetary, where my grandmother and my great grandmother are buried.

One day, it was on the news that a small plane like the one in the picture had crashed into Mount Olivet.

It happened to crash right near the plot of my grandmother.

Thankfully, our family area was not damaged.

However, if that is Detroit City Airport, it is a primarily small-plane airport these days, and it's personally amusing to me to think that if that man in the suit is dead, they don't have far to take him to rest. :D

Re: Kuperus and Miller Rock It Like The Proverbial Hurricane.

And if not, then at least it gave me the chance to spin something to add to the picture.

Art is a mirror for which humanity views itself. It's up to the people to take what they can from the image.
