[In the Moment |complacentcomplacent]
[Special Music |Jimi Hendrix - Manic Depression]

Thanks be to anthrogeek for excellent timing for the reappearance of the interview questions.

If a comment in the post says "I want to be interviewed," you will receive 5 questions.

I'll fire them off the virtual balcony at you, and you'll post the 5 questions and the 5 answers in your journal, my journal, the journal of a stranger, but if you don't then that's cool.

Because why?

Because, this is my United States of Whatever.

********************************************************

Anthrogeek's questions:

why did you choose sauce1977rm?
who did you vote for in march? why?
what is your favorite book?
what do you like best about yourself?
what is your favorite quote?

********************************************************

Anthrogeek's 5 Questions, Answered.

  1. Why did you choose sauce1977rm?

    Sauce is my nickname.

In high school, when people couldn't pronounce my name, they addressed me as "Sauce."

The nickname made sense. Why struggle with pronunciation of my name, when a nickname works just fine.

My synapses made the primary connection to "Sauce" as my name. Secondary associations are cocaine, condiments, and added flavor.

1977 is the year of the release of Star Wars.

It is also the year Elvis died in the bathroom, and it is the year in which I spawned forth into this reality. Those are my associations with 1977, though others may remember the Yankees in the World Series, their pet hamster's death, the months spent in the clutches of alien scientists.

RM is the extra tag added to denote a Rocketmail account, done so by Yahoo! when they swallowed rocketmail.com.

  2. Who did you vote for in march? why?

If there was a vote, I'd vote for myself and a pack of cigarettes.

What I think about 'issues' can be far different from how I vote. It proves impossible to guess.

However, you can discuss the vote and the results, and I will gladly chip in my wooden nickels of wisdom. :D

  3. What is your favorite book?

There is no one favorite. Actually, now that I think of one clearly, it was on audio book that I listened to Franz Kafka's Metamorphosis.

I drove back and forth from my college, my place of work, and an interview for DTE Energy. I looked forward to those drives to find out what would happen to poor Gregor Samsa. At the time, I felt like him. My life in Los Angeles denotes a success from that feeling, one that I harbored for about 6 years.

Good stories feature vibrant, detailed characters. Identification with such characters sometimes may be impossible, however, with that particular book at that time, I most definitely did identify with Gregor. When such instances happen, it makes for a special memory, quite resident, indeed.

I am a fan of my mind's ability to understand language and process text.

Without such ability, I would quickly overdose on food, sex, drugs, and rock and roll, probably before the evening slipped into early morning.

  4. What do you like best about yourself?

There are many things to like.

My charm with words shines here. In reality, people have admired my gentle nature, my thoughtful actions, and my attention to detail. Those features of my character, like so many other folks, they strengthen and weaken depending upon the situation.

To qualify, what I like about myself right now . . .

My addictive personality, at the moment, feeds both the source of my self-love and self-loathe.

My addictive personality helps my unique identity, and it also helps destroy it.

  5. What is your favorite quote?

Those who do not dream lead an uninspired sleep.

I feel drawn to the Atari logo.

The symbol mesmerizes me, an instant transportation back into hours and days and months first weaned in front of a television screen.

Indiana Jones, I tried to help you find the Ark. I could never help you succeed in your quest.

Sometimes, late at night, you haunt me.

The Interview.

1. In a spaceship capable of time travel, with fuel enough for one time-traveling stop and return, what would you use the round trip to witness?

2. There are approximately 489,726,309 ways to say "I love you."

What is your favorite way to say it?

3. The child actor who played Danny Torrance in the film The Shining returned to the screen once more, and decided not to pursue the career.

If someone were to give you a role in a motion picture, how would you feel toward it, on a scale of Danny to the scale of Drew Barrymore?

Note: Never mind if you were never a child actor . . . chances are, you'd be quite innocent to the whole process, pun intended.

4. A night out on the town calls for . . .

a. bluejeans

b. corduroys

c. loud music, trendy scene, body shots, and a return home, with a nightcap and a quest to find the best image of Gillian Anderson's belly button

d. out on the town too expensive, you watch Conan on NBC

e. quiet bar to discuss Sauce1977's crazy questions

Of the above, which choice most closely resembles you . . . right now?

5. with a creative response, on a scale of your choice, how did you enjoy this quiz?

Apologies for the cluttered look to the interview.

I felt ill earlier today. The HTML escapes me at those moments, like all 2nd and further languages do.

The Jake Interview.

1. The World Is Your Oyster. How would you eat it?

2. You observe five men walk into a room. They close the door. Five minutes later, four men walk out of the room.

Where did the fifth man go?

3. Given that all injustices are equal, what is the worst injustice?

4. If you had a choice between playing a flute or playing a guitar, which one would you choose?

5. Of all the ways to say "hello," what is the best way?

Dear E.T., the Extra-terrestrial,

I am truly sorry that i never helped you find all the parts needed to assemble the homing beacon. Oh yeah, can you please tell Pitfall Harry that i am also sorry i never helped him reach "the finish line" that all my friends claim they helped him get to. (i never saw no darn finish line)

thanks,

Ryan

Addition to the E.T. letter.

I never reached the end of Pitfall either.

Mr. E.T., or do you have a preferred title? . . .

Your game was a travesty, far below the quality of your film, so lovingly your story told in picture and sound by Steven Spielberg.

If there are any Reese's Pieces you would like to eat with me, I would gladly find the time.

Oh, and please tell George Lucas that there was no end to the Star Wars game . . . I tried one night and reached the millions in terms of the score.

Chris

Re: Addition to the E.T. letter.

if i was smart and new how to do this, i would make (program) a whole slew of 2600 emulation games as if time progressed to the year 2004 with ZERO advances in video game technology.

i.e. the Matrix for Atari 2600, Attack of the Clones 2600, 28 days later 2600.

the graphics and gameplay would be purposefully horrible.

Re: Addition to the E.T. letter.

I don't consider the gameplay and graphics to be horrible if done in the style of the times.

Did you ever play Texas Chainsaw Massacre or Halloween?

Then there were the adult-themed games . . .

I liked Chainsaw.

Re: Addition to the E.T. letter.

Oh MY!

Yes, and the Chuck Wagon game . . .

Oh how I loved the Smurfs game.

Donkey Kong played exactly like the arcade, it was a special game.

I had one of those systems that played Coleco AND Atari.

It wasn't a Coleco, either.

I'm a special special people like you.

Uh oh!

I am invisible on IMs too. . . .literally, since I don't have them installed on my system.

The one thing I use with regularity, IRC, that is not a listed option in the userinfo.

I love addiction! It's addictive!

The first time I noticed Zzyzx Rd, I did a double-take. It is really a weird name for an exit.

The story I found behind the road, in case you didn't catch it, is found at this link:
