Governor Arnie Provides Good Message, Wholesome Web Chuckles. [May. 27th, 2004|07:30 pm]

I just turned on the television and caught the newest ad in the "Buy California Grown" ad campaign.

The ad delivers the pitch through the voices of Califronians, and they cap it off with Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger's delivery of the slogan.

While unintended, the voice and image of Governor Arnie brought a good-hearted laugh from me.

Be Californian . . . Buy Califronia Grown . . . NYAAAAHHHH!

This article describes the new campaign to buy "Californian Grown" food.

From the article, here's a choice paragraph with a quote from Scott Horsfall:

"He's not a celebrity; he's the governor," says Scott Horsfall, chief operations officer of the Buy California Marketing Agreement, which buys the ads using federal and agricultural industry money.

I beg to differ, Mr. Horsfall, with due respect. Don't deceive . . . Arnie was a celebrity before he was governor. He continues as a celebrity, and he will be a celebrity. It is why this ad works.

It caused me to take note, and I even went so far as to feature it.

Re: Caption for Above:

That brought happy chuckles!!!

I still need to look at the ad...will have to do that at home :o)

Other celebrities before politicians include the late Sonny Bono, Clint Eastwood, and of course Ronald Reagan. Hell, even JFK was a celebrity!!!! Anyone in high profile politics is in the same category as a celeb. Silly Scott.

Re: Caption for Above:

If there was one role that Arnold understood, it was The Terminator.

In that role, he played a foreign element among the locals . . . he was . . . part man . . . part machine.

The first Terminator featured more of that Captain-Bad-Ass-Machine-Shark.

The second Terminator flossed the more human element of the machine when it was hard-wired not to destroy all humans.

I'm afraid to see the 3rd installment, after I suggested it to Jim and Frank, and I didn't go see it. I suppose I deserve to waste rental money on what was returned in opinion as laughable and unforgiveable by Jim and Frank. Yes, they say it is that bad.
