Family Remains Important. [Aug. 11th, 2005|09:50 pm]

My grandfather has been released from the hospital after a long couple of weeks in battle of bladder infection and bronchitis.

I am thankful that my aunt discovered him in the kitchen on the day of a scheduled visit to the doctor. He had become quite dehydrated in the heat with the illnesses, and since he has been quite ill for most of the summer, it worked out for the best.

He is my last live grandparent. I love him very much, and I went to the hospital to visit him a couple of times. We talked about sports and baseball in particular, despite the fact that I really do not care for the Detroit Tigers or anything that the Ilitch family owns. I also promised him that I would cut down on my tobacco, which concerns him deeply. Since that day, I have cut back a bit.

I have prayed for him every day, like I normally do (and all my family, relatives, and friends). I hope for him to have better health in order to enjoy the rest of the year, since most of this year he has spent in fight of the infections.

Thank you.

My mom's preparing as we speak to spend the night with him.

My mother and aunt have spent quite a bit of time with him in the hospital, and he now needs someone with him around the clock while he rests at home.

The plan is to be with him until he recovers his strength, so that his medications can be followed on their precise schedules, and he can have a bit more comfort with someone in the house.

Hopefully it'll all pan out. Sounds like everything is planned to a t, so, it should.

Thanks.

Grandparents are great. Old baseball is fun to chat, and he knows a lot of it. He remembers guys like Ty Cobb. His wealth of information is priceless.
