Independence Day. [Jul. 4th, 2006|08:00 pm]
[Tags|, , ]

President George Washington, the Father of the United States.

"How soon we forget history... Government is not reason. Government is not eloquence. It is force. And, like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master."

"If the freedom of speech is taken away then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter."

"Labor to keep alive in your breast that little spark of celestial fire, called conscience."

"If we desire to avoid insult, we must be able to repel it; if we desire to secure peace, one of the most powerful instruments of our rising prosperity, it must be known, that we are at all times ready for War."

"It may be laid down as a primary position, and the basis of our system, that every Citizen who enjoys the protection of a Free Government, owes not only a proportion of his property, but even of his personal services to the defense of it."

"It will be found an unjust and unwise jealousy to deprive a man of his natural liberty upon the supposition he may abuse it."

"Be courteous to all, but intimate with few, and let those few be well tried before you give them your confidence."

"It is far better to be alone, than to be in bad company."

"It is our true policy to steer clear of entangling alliances with any portion of the foreign world."

"Observe good faith and justice toward all nations. Cultivate peace and harmony with all."

As he walked, so did a new nation.

George Washington believed in the United States of America.

I believe there remains hope for the concept, so long as there is life.

I can't believe only 71 people voted on IMDB for Flashbeagle.

I will be the 72nd.

I'm not sure.

I'm just rather disappointed in mankind for failure to vote for Flashbeagle.

The sound of fireworks dwindles, but the smell of smoke is present . . . and the flag is still there!

Cool post there man. Yeah, Washington certainly was our best president if only because he set the precedent for so many things in office. He had his problems, but his final advice to congress is something we should go back to.

It's usually a race between him and Lincoln for the greatest President.
