Congratulations to the Detroit Tigers.

You played better baseball than anyone could have predicted. Only the insane would have had you pegged for the 2006 World Series.

This was a great story from start to finish. Everything past .500 ball in the regular season was the bonus round.

You have a talented young pitching staff. Your club has many young players, and most of them can only get better. The future is bright.

Your organization provided a lifetime of entertainment for my grandfather. He enjoyed you guys right up until his end.

I carried him through the final innings. I cannot thank you enough for making it pretty exciting to watch.

You're good guys. I wish you the best.

2006 Champions of Detroit.

What's most unfortunate about this seriese is just how much the Cards outplayed the Tigers. We were out hit, out pitched and out fielded. I won't say blame rests squarely on the costly pitching follies -- because the Tigers couldn't get a hit to save their collective lives -- but it definately hurt. A lot.

Yeah, that was the worst I've watched since they did the exact same thing during the Royals.

I saw the hitters getting nutty during Game 4 of the ALCS. They had that 6 game stretch where they took the right pitches and just met the ball. Then, with a lead, they'd crank up their bat velocity for the HRs.

That was utterly missing. Guys lost their heads, and I think Leyland's message to have fun and relax should have been "finish this one out with focus and the finish line in sight. Give no quarter."
