This is how the action genre should be.
I am left with the feeling that 300 was everything that Troy utterly was not.
This film looks similar to Sin City, and it should, considering Frank Miller's name is on it.
Film is not so slick and three-toned . . . it's stark, but it's more grainy for scenes due to the battles in the sand, blood flying everywhere . . . battle, once it begins, is pretty intense.
Now, here's the thing that should make you go "huh?" . . . when you mentioned recently that you liked the DOTD remake, I wasn't so hot for it. That was this director's film.
Had I known it was that guy's film, I probably wouldn't have went to see it. I am glad I didn't pay too much attention to such particulars.
Butler was great as Leonidas. Different characters, but what I want my Greeks to be, I want them Butler, not Brad Pitt.
No offense to Brad Pitt, since he's decent . . . Fight Club, et cetera . . . but if you're going to make a movie about Martin Luther King, then don't cast his role with a white guy.
300 was the film I was looking for all this time so I could completely forget every last detail of Troy.
They are also not kidding about Spartan women.
If you see it, and you hear the lines about the Spartan women . . . for real.
