Very Short Post Here. [Oct. 5th, 2003|01:30 am]
On Friday morning, my grandmother on my dad's side passed away . . .

She had Alzheimer's, and she was not the strong and happy woman I knew for at least 5 years . . .

At the end, she didn't really recognize dad, and she wouldn't be able to recognize anyone else, for that matter.

This death was not a shock, as my other grandmother's passing was unexpected. I received that notice in a frantic phone call from my mother one afternoon. I still miss her.

I will miss my other grandma too. She came to my mom's mom (1st grandma's) funeral.

At this point, I have had just that bummed Friday, which wasn't the best of weather, with sinus issues . . .

More on this at a later point.

I'm sorry for your troubles. Alzheimer's is a real bitch. Doesn't it scare you to think the very same thing could happen to you?

Three of my four grandparents are still alive, and I dread their deaths.

My sincerest condolences to you.

If I should fall into that strange incoherence, I'd probably be out of it just enough to make it less of an issue for myself.

I'd be more concerned before I slipped into something Alzheimer's can do if I wasn't sure who would step up to the plate for me when I lost some of my core functions.

My grandma didn't qualify for medicaid at her level . . . she was a touch above the poverty numbers needed to have the government step in with every amount of care. My dad and my uncle performed a very good team of watching for her as she regressed over these years. I thank them for this.
