Curse your eyes!!!

Curse Your Eyes!!!

I've only watched Young Frankenstein, an absolutely wonderful Mel Brooks joint, but from his bio, I now believe I want to see more stuff with Marty Feldman.

The man possessed the wit that few people have for comedic performance.

It's a shame he died of a heart attack from bad shellfish in 1982.

He was great as I-gor. In fact, his character was the breath of fresh air throughout the whole film.

I loved the young Teri Garr as Inga the assistant. "Would you like a rrroll in zee hay? Rolllll, roll . . . "

That had to be Gene Wilder's finest role, as Dr. Frederick Frankenstein. I remember watching Blazing Saddles not too long ago, but Wilder shined as Frankenstein.

Peter Boyle had a great performance as Frankenstein's Monster. The scenes with the priest were great . . . and few people recognize the priest, but he's Gene Hackman! The scenes with Helga, the girl at the well, establish why we cared about the monster in the first place. The capacity for it to love, of course, becomes satire when he hooks up with Madeline Kahn's Elizabeth, Dr. Frankenstein's fiancee.

Is it me, or did the mechanical arm of the Inspector change during the manhunt scenes for the monster? I could have sworn I saw his right mechanical arm gag played from the left.

Also, Madeline Kahn, while a fine actress, seems to be in every Mel Brooks film! Rest her soul.

Marty, if we ever meet in some existence, you can take the blond, and I'll take the one in the turban.

I saw a few of his pics when I was a kid, before he died.
I always enjoyed his work. I think that "The Last Remake of Beau Geste" was the last one I saw him in.

He died from the food poisoning on the last day of shooting Yellowbeard, leaving the last scene of Yellowbeard's death to be shot with a stand-in . . .

I haven't seen that last film of his . . .

This is the first time I've watched anything with him in it, but I can remember as a child seeing his face quite often . . . a rather striking face, indeed.
