To Taylor, Whoever You Were. [Jul. 24th, 2004|06:55 pm]

To the person who made it into my inbox, Taylor, with the subject title, "Is This John Paul," no, it is not John Paul.

Also, the message had an attachment, and that was why I deleted it without reading.

No offense meant, but I pretty much equate those as spam emails with viruses attached.

Outside of that, I wonder, do they have any colleges that are all-male, all-female, all-black, or all-white in the United States? I know that was predominantly part of the history of the United States, but I wonder if there are still schools that exist.

I'm not thinking of it in terms of racism or bigotry. There are all-male and all-female high schools, and those aren't run by maligned individuals.

There's still all-boy and all-girl schools, other than that I think that's it.

Well, some private high schools operate that way.

I'm thinking about the colleges when I ask this. I'm pretty sure that if it's a public (government-fed) university, the admissions would honor all qualified individuals of any background.

There are still all-female and (a couple) all-male colleges out there. I don't know that there are any state supported ones in the aftermath of the VMI controversy of several years back, though.

A missed comment. LJ had issues over the summer.

I'm also pretty sure that state-supported colleges are required to be equal opportunity. I've been going through the web pages of college football teams, and many of them have "Equal Opportunity" on them.

This amuses me, since there are male and female sports for most every sport except the big bad money-maker, football.
